Travel to Milan by Air

Milan has three domestic and international airports:

  • Malpensa (MXP) – main airport, 45 km to the northwest of Milan
  • Linate (LIN) – 6km to the east of Milan
  • Orio al Serio (BGY) – 45km to the northeast of Milan

There are different train and bus connections from all airports to the city centre of Milan.

Travel to Milan by Train

Milan is at the heart of the European rail network and a key interchange for the national network. Two rail companies operate in Milan: Trenitalia for national and international routes (Central Station) and Ferrovie Nord for local transport (Cadorna Station).

Travel to Milan by Road

Milan is at the centre of a first class motorway and trunk road network linked to every part of Italy and Europe. The MIC Milano Convention Centre is just 2km (1.2m) from the ring road where the national motorways converge.
Public transportation within Milan Milan is served by three underground lines (Metropolitana) which cross the city from one side to the other. Each is identified by a colour: MM1 (red), MM2 (green) and MM3 (yellow).

The ‘Passante’ rail link is one of Milan’s newest infrastructure developments. It is an underground rail link which crosses the city, joining the overground rail networks to the Metro.

Milan provides an integrated network of surface transport, comprising approx. 120 lines including trams, trolley buses and buses.
